The key to staying healthy is to keep as clean as possible, which is no mean feat in the climate and landscape of Kemet. Generally, rich and poor people alike wash every morning after rising and also their hands and face after eating.
The very rich may have a room in their house dedicated to ablutions. These rooms may include a toilet comprising a wooden seat resting on two brick pillars with a bowl of sand beneath which is then emptied outside. Some of these ablution rooms have a shower room, with a stone slab with a drain where a servant pours water over the bather.
